Description

The National Institutes of Health intends to procure primate feed, Purina #5038. Any resultant contract shall be for Purina brand ONLY. Due to a number of ongoing research projects, use of another type of primate feed could compromise and alter data gathered therefore the use of Purina only is essential to the Government's requirement thereby precluding consideration of a product manufactured by another company. It is anticipated that a contract will be awarded for a period of one year with four successive 12-month option periods. The required supplies are proprietary and commercial as defined in FAR Part 2. This action shall be solicited under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1), as set forth in FAR 6.302-1 and HHSAR 306.302-1. The agency's minimum needs can only be satisfied by one source. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the Government's requirement by submitting a written request for the solicitation to the Contracting Officer at the address identified in this notice not later than December 17, 2001. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive bids. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
