Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Coastal Systems Station (CSS) is seeking information on improved Night Vision Goggles for use in Landing Craft Operational Environments. The application is for use by hovercraft crews and on L-Class ships. This search is not restricted to current approaches or systems used in the maritime environment. It does include any Night Vision Goggle technology, potentially suited for the above application used in diverse maritime as well as land environments. This announcement will serve as a first step for evaluating alternatives and supporting research and development efforts planned for fiscal years 2002-2004. Systems could be acquired in the future for Test and Evaluation for future LCAC usage. Both off-the-shelf and developmental approaches will be considered. Responses to this announcement should include a technical description and detailed characteristics of the improved NVG equipment with enough information for the government to make informed decisions. Information submitted shall be marked with restrictive legends as deemed appropriate by the potential offeror. Data with restrictive markings will be handled in accordance with the restrictions thereto. Interested parties must provide paper submittals with copies on disks in MS Word or Adobe Acrobat format. Information is to be received by the Government by COB 31 Dec 2001. The Government will evaluate the submittals for their potential improve night operation effectiveness and to reduce the cost of LCAC NVG procurement. Organizations that submit materials/designs, which are determined by the evaluation team as possessing significant potential for contributing to the solution of the LCAC NVG issue, may be provided an opportunity to d emonstrate their system. This announcement should not be construed as a commitment by the Government to issue a solicitation or to ultimately award a contract. Technical questions should be directed to Bob Woodall at (850) 235-5027 (email woodallrc@ncsc.navy.mil).
