Description
MODIFICATION 2: THIS MODIFICATION PROVIDES A CORRECTED WEBSITE ADDRESS AND A REVISED DATE FOR THE POSTING OF THE DRAFT STATEMENT OF WORK.THE WEBSITE ADDRESS IS:http://www.hcfa.gov/quality/5b.htm THE REVISED DATE FOR PUBLICATION OF THE DRAFT SOW IS ON OR ABOUT 12/5/01. CMS plans to release a draft SOW on or about December 3, 2001 for the 7th Scope QIO/PRO contract. The draft SOW will be available at the following website: http://www.hcfa.gov/quality/sb.htm. Services covered in this draft shall encompass the requirements as defined in Title XI of the Social Security Act (the Act), as amended. In order to be eligible to receive a QIO/PRO contract, an offeror must meet the definition of a PRO, per Section 1152 of the Act. In general, QIOs/PROs are responsible for quality improvement of health care in the Medicare beneficiary population and for review of certain health care processes furnished under Title XVIII of the act. QIOs/PROs conduct reviews to determine whether services are reasonable, medically necessary, furnished in the appropriate setting and are of a quality which meets professionally recognized standards. Relevant comments on the draft SOW may be submitted to CMS at the following address: 7sowcom@cms.hhs.gov no later than December 14, 2001. While CMS will review comments, it does not intend to respond to individual comments. Interested parties shall be advised that a notice shall be published in the FEDBIZOPS at least 15 days prior to release of a Request for Proposal (RFP)for any State where the QIO/PRO contract will be competed.
