- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Potomac Photonics, Inc., of Lanham, MD, for acquisition of one Laser Micromachine System Upgrade, including optics conversion kit, microcontroller upgrade, power leveling upgrade and on-site reinstallation/instruction. The system will be used at the Analytical Chemistry Division at NIST.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for 100% compatibility with the existing Potomac laser system, as the instrumentation being acquired will be installed onto the existing system to enable it to perform the required function. Potomac Photonics is uniquely qualified to meet the Government's current requirement. No other system on the market would offer complete compatibility with the existing Potomac instrumentation.*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days or less from receipt of purchase order (ARO) and systems delivery to Potomac Photonics.*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 335999, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by February 26, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
