Description

The U.S. Geological Survey, Florida Caribbean Science Center, BRD Section intends to award a non-competitive purchase order via request for written quotation to BIO-RAD Laboratories, Inc., Life Science Group, 2000 Alfred Nobel Drive, Hercules, CA 94547 for a Gel Air Drying System, Mini-Protean 3, Mini-Trans Blot, Protean IEF Cell, GS-800, and PowerPac 300 to be delivered by 03/15/2002. The anticipated award date is 03/04/2002. This equipment is needed to develop in-vitro assays involving endrocine disruption in wildlife. The proposed contractor offers unique qualifications in the following areas, which are considered essential to the requirement. These unique and essential qualifications of this equipment are (1) GelAir Drying System can operate continuously, or under timer control from 0 to 3 hours, fully adjustable, (2) MiniTrans-Blot Cell has short (4cm) interelectrode distance for efficient, rapid (1 hour) transfers, (3) Mini-Protean 3 System casting frame (patent pending) allows precision alignment of glass plate sandwich on any flat surface. (4) Mini-Protean II converts into modular electrophoresis system which performs tube gel electrophoresis, (5) Protean IEF Cell has three semi-programmable, preloaded methods with up to nine steps, (6) GS-800 has ability to calibrate itself for transmittance imaging applications to an external standard, (7) PowerPac has capacity of 400 mA for simultaneous operation of four mini-vertical electrophoresis cells. THIS NOTICE IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. Information will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Determination to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Responses to this notice must be submitted via e-mail to: mfritts@usgs.gov by 03/01/02.
