Description

The Bureau of Reclamation will be negotiating with Waukesha Transformer Corporation for manufacturing two 115-kilovolt three-phase power transformers. These transformers are required to be designed/manufactured identical to the two transformers procured under Contract No. 1425-97-CP-08310, which are currently installed at Estes Powerplant, in Estes Park, Colorado. That contract included options for two additional transformers, however budget constraints were such that sufficient funding for the additional transformers was unavailable at that time. The transformers must be readily interchangeable with the transformers previously furnished and installed, in order to maintain the availability of critical power generation capability at Estes Powerplant. In an emergency, one of these transformers must be capable of being moved into the place of either of the 2 existing Waukesha transformers. The other transformer, which will be installed at nearby Mary?s Lake Powerplant must also be interchangeable with any of the three Waukesha transformers at Estes with minimum outage time. In addition, there must be critical parts interchangeability in order to allow Estes transformers to be re-energized with parts taken from the Mary?s Lake transformer without relocation of the entire transformer. This sequence of transformer flexibility is critical to Reclamation?s unit availability commitments.
