- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI), on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), intends to procure fellowship training from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, Stanford Sloan Program, Room 400 Stanford University, Stanford, California 94305-5015. The North American Industry Classification System code is 611310 and the business size standard is $5M. A mid-level professional staff member of the NINDS recently applied and was accepted into the Stanford University Sloan Fellowship Program, a prestigious general management program that is designed to broaden and develop outstanding mid-career executives from the United States and international business, government, and non-profit organizations for general and senior management positions. This programs features include four critical areas of trends and issues: 1) encourage a broader perspective that will make the participant a more effective manager and encourage a pattern of lifelong learning and personal growth; 2) develop a deeper understanding of fundamental management concepts, both through functional approaches such as accounting, finance, marketing, strategic thinking, and quantitative methods of decision analysis, and in cross-disciplinary work that encourages new approaches to business issues; 3) explore the increasingly global nature of the economic, social, political, legal and ethical responsibilities of management; and 4) expand abilities in group and interpersonal relationships through both peer group interaction and academic work in organizational behavior, human resource management, leadership, and related fields. The program enables specialized thesis study as well. In addition to the above features and the selectivity of the program (only 48 fellows per year are accepted and admitted to the program), this fellowship is unique in that an MBA or Master of Science in Management degree from Stanford is earned in only 10 months, and the program includes a very integrated curriculum that is different from other degree programs. Core requirements and electives are taken in conjunction with seminars and mandatory field trips (i.e. to organizations and establishments in New York, Washington DC and other major cities), and much of the learning is through mutual groups. Furthermore, the program totally removes the employee from his or her workplace since relocation to Stanford, California is required. For the above reasons, this fellowship program is believed to be unique. This is not a request for competitive quotation, however, if any interested party believes it has an established fellowship program with the above attributes, it may submit a statement of capabilities. Information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow NINDS to determine if the party can meet the requirement. Capability statements must be received in the Contracts Office by 1:00 PM EST (local Washington, DC time) on May 8, 2002. If you have any questions, please submit them in writing via electronic mail to Malinda Holdcraft Purchasing Agent at holdcram@exchange.nih.gov or by fax 301-402-4513. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
