- Description
- NASA/GSFC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for modifications to a passive Q-switched single longitudinal mode (SLM) ultraviolet laser, Model CCL-005-QTU-0010. Modifications will include: replacing the Nd:yag slab amplifiers to a new design of conductively cooled amplifiers; upgrading the second harmonic generator material to improve the frequency doubled mode quality and total conversion efficiency to 355 nm wavelength; replacing or repairing the third harmonic generator crystal (this has exhibited signs of surface deterioration). These modifications and repairs are aimed at improving the spatial mode quality and harmonic generation properties without sacrificing overall efficiency or other performance parameters. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/GSFC intends to purchase the items from Cutting Edge Optronics, Inc., St. Charles, MO. Cutting Edge Optronics, Inc. has intimate knowledge of the SLM ultraviolet laser, having developed this system. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on June 7, 2002. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
