Design The pantograph shall be used for direct fuselage refueling of Wide Body Aircraft (C-5, C-17, L1011, 747) and other aircraft with dual single point receptacles such as the C-141. It can be moved via use of a tow vehicle and the design meets NATO/USAFE Specification STS-M 145. The system must be completely compatible with the existing CLA-VAL underground-pressurized hydrant system. Application Operating pressure : 125 psi Ambient Temperature : -60 to +180 Fahrenheit Flow rate : min 600 USGPM Requirements - Each section has 4-inch diameter stainless steel piping and non-lubricated stainless steel swivels. - The system shall have a section that allows for horizontal coupling to an aircraft for levels ranging between 2.0 feet (0.60 m) and 6.5 feet (2,00 m) above level of apron. - The dispensing section piping reduces to 3-inch stainless steel piping and swivel joints. - The dual dispensing end shall have a 2.5-inch single point. - It shall not be permitted to use hoses as connections between the hydrant pit and aircraft and/or the pantograph and aircraft. - The pantograph shall be equipped with an automatic thermal relief system to compensate for ambient temperature changes and pressure fluctuations. - The thermal relief reservoir shall be sized to accommodate a 176?F (80?C)-temperature increase. - The pantograph has spring-loaded casters to support the entire assembly and to allow towing. - A tow bar shall be mounted onto the front support of the pantograph to enable pulling the pantograph at a maximum speed of 5 miles/hour. - For towing, the pantograph shall be equipped with two locking devices. - The pantograph is equipped with two grounding cable reels. The cable shall be at least 50 feet (15.2 m) long. Each cable reel, the grounding cable, and the connection clamp must be in accordance with US-Military Specifications MIL-R-83232 B (2) and MIL-R-83325 A(1). - The pantograph shall be equipped to accommodate sampling, connecting pressure gauges, draining, and venting. Design diameter Nominal diameters at pantograph shall be as follows: Pipe sections : 4-inch, 150 pound class with 3-inch dispensing piping CLA-VAL Hydrant Coupler, or equal : 4-inch, API 1584 Filter Monitor : 4-inch, ANSI 150 Venturi system : 4-inch, ANSI 150, compatible to CLA-VAL Control Valve CLA-VAL Control Valve or Equal : 4-inch, ANSI 150 Wide mesh strainer : 4-inch, ANSI 150 Turbine flow meter : 4-inch, ANSI 150 Swivel joints : 4-inch and 3-inch, 125 psi Pressure Fueling Nozzle : 2 ? -inch, 125 psi And Dry Break Quick-disconnect Equipment Swivel Joints: - At least a three-year warranty shall be provided for the swivel joints. - Approved swivel joints are: 1 ea.
