Description
Request for Information (RFI) - The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Charleston (SSC CH) seeks sources and information concerning contactless biometric technology for the application of controlling access to facilities and information technology networks for the Department of Defense Community. Information on State of the Art (SOFA) biometric contactless systems/equipment meeting International Organization for Standards (ISO) 14443 and 15693 is requested. Data on new or emerging technologies capable of supporting the goals of contactless biometric access control is also needed to assist planning of future work in this area. Requirement: Specific technical areas of interest for systems and technology include: (1) Support Encryption - symmetric and/or asymmetric for data that resides on card and for the transmission of all critical data passing between reader and card. (2) Contactless Biometric Readers that support multiple standards (ISO 14443 Type A and Type B and ISO 15693). (3) Contactless Biometric Readers that support Numeric Pin Pad and ISO 14443 and 15693 , (4) Ability of Contactless Biometric Readers to work on Legacy Electronic Security Systems 5) Read and Write distances between the card and the biometric reader. Demonstration of contactless biometric technology: We are interested in a potential demonstration of this technology to achieve a significant increase in integrated functionality or operational performance in an operational setting. Therefore, we request information on (1) Current SOFA Products, (2) Available and emerging products/technologies, (3) Near term research and beta products that are potential candidates for investment. Submittals: Interested parties should submit (1) Technical information and materials regarding existing and proposed products, technologies, and research. This includes, but is not limited to, current and/or projected performance capabilities and potential delivery schedules; (2) A brief description of relevant and recently completed efforts; (3) Pertinent company information, including contact person, phone number and email address. No part of the submittal will be returned. Responses to this RFI should be mailed to: SPAWARSYSCEN Charleston, Attn: Code 0217/744, P.O. Box 190022, N. Charleston, SC, 29419-9022. Please provide 3 copies of any hardcopy items. This RFI is for planning purposes only, and should not be construed as a Request for Proposal (RFP) or solicitation of an offer. The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or otherwise pay for the information solicited. Responders will not be provided any written correspondence. The purpose of this request for information is to determine if the technology is viable for use.
