- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology intends to procure on a sole source basis with Larissa Podobedova, Gaithersburg, MD to provide critical compilations of transition probabilities for specified light atoms and provide text and tables for manuscripts to be submitted for publication for spectra compiled for the CHANDRA X-Ray Observatory database project, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) Only One Source Reasonably Available. Specific tasks include: 1a) preparation of revised tables of transition probabilities for spectra of ionized neon, magnesium, silicon, and sulfur by extracting latest data from the Froese-Fischer MCHF/MCDF database; 1b) computing of line strengths for individual LSJ fine structure components for Ne V-Ne VIII from results of Opacity Project and verify values currently compiled for these ions in NIST CHANDRA database; 1c) preparation of final versions of manuscripts for spectral tables for CHANDRA X-Ray Observatory for S VIII-XIV, Si VI-XII, Mg V-X, and Ne V-VIII; 1d) preparation of revised tables of transition probabilities for allowed, intercombination, and forbidden transitions of Na I-XI in all spectral regions by extracting latest data from the Froese-Fischer MCHF/MCDF database and other new sources. Additional tasks include tables for Mg I-XII, Ne VII-VIII, A1 I-XIII, Ne VI, Si I-XIV and Ne V. This is a sole source procurement as the Contractor is a world renown expert in atomic spectroscopy and has already collected and analyzed the data which is now subject to revision. A firm fixed price Purchase Order will be issued on or about 06/17/02 with a 10-mo. period of performance. Interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competition. However, the Government will consider all responses received by the closing date. Written responses to this synopsis shall contain sufficient documentation to establish a bona fide capability to fulfill the requirement. A solicitation is not available. See Note 26.
