- Description
- The U.S. Government is seeking a Non-Developmental Item (NDI), pyrotechnic fuze with operating performance similar to the current M213 fuze used on the M67 fragmentation hand grenade. The fuze shall meet or exceed the current reliabiity and safety requirements but provide superior shelf life over the M213 fuze. The NDI fuze must mate seamlessly to the M67 Comp-B filled hand grenade body. Interested contractors must submit their NDI design with test data, showing attainment of shelf life enhancement, a warranty for this period, and current customer list to TACOM-ARDEC for review within 12 (twelve) working days to the release of this market survey. Contractors shall deliver, at no cost to the Government; - 300 stand-alone live fuzes - 1,116 live fuzes mated to the M67 grenade bodies - 553 live fuzes mated to inert M67 grenade bodies - 25 inert fuzes mated to inert M67 grenade bodies - 5 fuzes modified to permit remote detonation and zero delay time, but maintain the integrity of the fuze, to be mated to M67 grenade bodies (to support arena fragmentation testing) The above are to be delivered to the Aberdeen Test Center, Transportation Officer, Bldg 714, STECS-AA-LS, Mr. John Ward, DODAAC: W91CRE, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21005-5059 on or before September 15 2002. In addition, 200 live fuzes mated to M67 grenade bodies shall be sent to the Commander, U.S. Army TACOM/ARDEC, Mr. Gerald Eilert, EMCN #B04, AMSTA-AR-FSA-M, Bldg 61S, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000 on or before September 15 2002. Due to the program schedule, the U.S. Government can furnish grenades to approved U.S. soil-based contractors for Load, Assembly and Packaging operations only. GFM grenades may be live full-up M67 grenades, in which case the contractor will be responsible for downloading, and conditioning prior to LAP. Upon determination of an adequate design enhancement, the U.S. Government will subject the contractor(s) fuze through a qualification process against the M213 baseline. In exchange for the submissions, the Govenment will provide qualification test/evaluation test data to the contractor(s). This is only a Market Survey, not a pre-solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the Government. The Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part any private sector input as a result of this market survey. See Numbered Note 25.
