Description

This project requires the contractor to fabricate and install cabinetry and furnishings for the new Visitor Center at Lava Beds National Monument in Tulelake, Modoc County, CA. The cabinetry shall be built according to the plans and specifications provided by the National Park Service. The Contractor will be required to coordinate and schedule delivery and installation with both the building construction contractor and the exhibit fabricator. Completion/installation is anticipated to occur in May 2003. Cabinetry required consists of: Information desk; display cases with lighting; retail display cabinets, shelves, lighting and fixtures; freestanding cabinet; and storage cabinets, all fabricated from high quality vertical grain Douglas Fir and veneer plywood. Tabletops, faces, bases, hardware and fixtures are to be included as detailed in the plans and specs. An award will be based on the overall best value to the government after considering price and factors other than price. Interested parties will be required to support their technical capability by demonstrating prior experience that includes the fabrication of display cases for retailers and/or museum requirements; fabrication of cabinets for installation in difficult situations (i.e., space restrictions, required angles, and/or with mechanical hardware requirements); and the fabrication of custom furnishings such as built-in book cases, dining room tables, china hutches, concealed audio visual units and wall display units. The Request for Quotations (RFQ) will be made available for electronic access on or about August 6, 2002 with responses due by Close of Business September 3, 2002. The RFQ and all plans and specifications will be available at: http://ideasec.nbc.gov. Paper copies will not be mailed, however, half size plan sheets may be furnished upon a written request to the contracting officer via e-mail (kris_swofford@nps.gov) or facsimile (415/663-8132). This acquisition is a Total Small Business Set-aside, reserved exclusively for small business concerns and is being procured under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures of Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 13.
