Description
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to Muhammad Afridi, Washington,DC, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The objective of this requirement is to provide the following tasks: Provide support of the Metrology for the Systems-on-a Chip (SoC) Focus Area. Perform research to assess industry needs as they relate generally to the development and test of Microsystems Technology SoC devices and specifically to the development and test of gas sensing SoC devices to consist of the following: a) Research circuit technologies to accurately process signals from one or more MEMS sensing devices. Of specific interest are circuit technologies that can be fabricated on the same chip as the MEMS sensing device and that have the ability to accurately detect the presence and concentration of specified gases; b) Research circuit technologies that can validate the performance of MEMS sensing devices and that can be fabricated on the same chip; and c) Research circuit technologies to enable MEMS-based sensing devices, with their signal processing and test circuits, to be implemented as Virtual Components (VCs) that are compatible with Platform Based Design technology. Work will be performed at NIST, Gaithersburg, MD. Mr. Afridi has produced MEMS-based microhotplate gas sensor devices with integrated amplification circuits and analog switches. The period of performance is September 30, 2002 to November 10, 2003. The anticipated award date is on or about 6 days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to the requirement no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. For information, call the POC identified below.
