- The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) for the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intend to negotiate on a noncompetitive basis with Nature America, Inc., 345 Park Avenue S. 6Th floor, New York, NY 10010 , to purchase copies and sponsorship of the special supplement to Nature Neuroscience, entitled ?Commercial & Practical Applications in Neuroscience.? Nature Neuroscience will publish this supplement to the journal in November 2002. The supplement will consist of a series of informative review articles covering a wide array of topics in neuroscience. The articles will be written by authoritative leaders in the field of key neuroscience institutes within the NIH and NIDA. The Nature Neuroscience journal reviewed and accepted the publication as a special supplement issue. The Nature Publishing Group (NPG) anticipates distribution of the supplement. This is an effective means for NIDA and NIH to disseminate information that will assist extramural scientists to further develop programs of research for NIH. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures and is exempt from the requirements of FAR Part 6. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 511120, Size Standard 500 employees is applicable to this requirement. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement. Responses to this announcement, referencing synopsis number NHLBI-PS-2002-114 may be submitted to the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, Contracts Operations Branch, Procurement Section, Building RKL2, Suite 6042, 6701 Rockledge Drive, Bethesda, MD 20892-7902, Attention Ms. Cecilia Morales, Purchasing Agent. All responsible sources may submit a quotation, which if timely received, shall be considered by the agency.
