Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with Acadia Optronics, LLC, Rockville, Maryland (formerly Wen, Hagley, and Associates), on a sole source basis under Statutory Authority 41 USC 253c(1), Only One Responsible Source, to expand the scope of work of the existing contract SB134101C0050, which was awarded on a non-competitive basis. These tasks are a continuation of previous experimental physics and engineering work done by the same contractor. They involve construction of an improved control system for radio-frequency power used in the NIST SURF III synchrotron, development and implementation of new beam injection and operational protocols to improve the stability of synchrotron radiation, the construction of a free-space quantum cryptography system as part of a quantum information testbed, and the development of a test and measurement platform for characterizing long-wavelength vertical cavity surface emitting lasers. The Government intends to make the change in the scope effective within 14 days from the date this notice is posted. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. A solicitation is not available. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer.
