Description

The Marine Mechinery Mechanic applies a variety of methodes, procedures, and techniques to layout, install, align, repair, and maintain numerous types of machinery, equipment, and systems of the Engineering Dept. Labs. The equipment IS Typical of marihne installations and utilizes mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic principles of operation, and is also characerized by complex inter-relationships amoung the components of systems. The incumbent dissembles, repairs, and rebuilds marine equipment components and machinery, i.e., main propulsion, machinery, auxiliary engines, shafts, air compressors, feed, pumps, condensers, speed reduction and acceleration mechanisms, and dearating feed tanks; and marine systems such as steering systems.
