Description
The Food and Drug Administration intends to award a non-competitive, sole source contract to the Environ International Corporation of Arlington, VA to map FDA product codes (ProCodes) to device categories in the Premier Perspectives(tm) database. The contract shall include one base task and three optional tasks. The base task requires the contractor to map Premier's device categories to FDA ProCodes for the subset of approximately 450 device ProCodes for which FDA has the most complete information on degree of patient contact. This would include the patient contact devices in the medical specialty areas of Gastroenterology/Urological devices, Cardiovascular devices, and Obstetric and Gynecological devices. The FDA will provide access to FDA's ProCode expert and access to non-proprietary information in CDRH's internal device classification and listing database. The contractor shall provide a report presenting utilization rates for this group of patient contact devices by FDA ProCode. In Optional Task 1 the contractor shall map Premier's device categories to FDA ProCodes for all implant device ProCodes for all medical specialty areas. These devices will be identified as implants using the "implant" identifier in FDA/CDRH's internal database and through visual inspection of device names. The contractor shall include devices not previously mapped, e.g., Orthopedic devices, Ophthalmic devices and provide a report presenting utilization rates for implant devices by FDA ProCode. In Optional Task 2 the contractor shall map Premier's device categories to FDA ProCodes for the remaining patient contact devices for all medical specialty areas. The contractor shall provide a report presenting utilization rates for all patient contact devices by FDA ProCode. In Optional Task 3 the contractor shall match Premier's device categories to FDA ProCodes for patient contact devices identified as associated with the top 50 medical procedures. The contractor shall provide a report presenting utilization rates for all patient contact devices by FDA ProCode associated with the top 50 medical procedures. Other parties interested in and capable of performing this work shall submit their capability statement on or before September 16, 2002.
