Description
The Naval Air Systems Command intends to award a contract to General Electric Aircraft Engines on a sole source basis for a component improvement program for the T58, T64, T700, F404, and F414 engines. This component improvement program will include engineering support and testing to resolve readiness problems, maintain performance, redesign low reliability parts, and forecast hardware wear-out rates, life limits, and problems before they occur in the fleet. General Electric Aircraft Engines will provide support for United States Navy, United States Air Force, and Foreign Military Sales customers under this contract. This contract will consist of a basic period of performance in FY 03 and nine one year options to be exercised at the discretion of the Government. The estimated value of this work is as follows: FY 03 basic period of performance - $ 19,800,000; FY 04 Option - $ 45,100,000; FY 05 Option - $ 46,200,000; FY 06 Option - $ 48,400,000; FY 07 Option - $ 48,400,000; FY 08 Option - $ 49,500,000; FY 09 Option - $ 46,200,000; FY 10 Option - $ 48,400,000; FY 11 Option - $ 44,000,000; and FY 12 Option - $44,000,000. Firms interested in subcontracting opportunities should contact Paul Canavan, Contracts Manager, General Electric Aircraft Engines, at (781) 594-7438. This effort is being awarded to General Electric Aircraft Engines because they are the sole designer, developer, and manufactuer of the T58, T64, T700, F404, and F414 eingines and are the only firm that possesses the technical data and in-depth knowledge of the engine designs necessary to resolve engine reliability, readiness, and maintainability problems in a timely fashion.
