- Description
- It is the intent of the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to procure professional services on a sole source basis with Kristen Mickey, Detroit, MI. The contractor shall provide a range of archival tasks in processing and transferring the papers of Dr. Adrian Kantrowitz. The contractor will provide professional archival services with the high degree of expertise required for processing unique archival materials. Ms. Mickey is an experienced archivist, possessing a Masters of Art in History with a concentration in archives management from the Wayne State University, as well as over three years of professional experience. She has worked on-site as a contract employee at the National Library of Medicine for over two years on a previous archival project and is knowledgeable of History Medicine Division (HMD) collections, processing guidelines, and procedures. Ms. Mickey possesses an intimate knowledge of HMD appraisal and processing standards gained during her tenure at NLM. Moreover, Ms. Mickey has previous experience working with the Kantrowitz collection and maintains an existing relationship with the donor, facilitating communication between the donor and NLM. Ms. Mickey brings particular skills and experience necessary to the project at this time: knowledge of the collection, skill in writing finding aids to HMD's standards, preparing and transferring materials to an archival setting, and applying archival knowledge and skills in survey, appraisal, arrangement, and description. For this order, Ms. Mickey would again be working with HMD collections and databases, thus requiring very little training. This combination of education and experience makes her uniquely skilled to carry out the terms established in this purchase order. The period of performance is anticipated for a period of twelve (12) months. The proposed acquisition will be procured under FAR Part 13 - Simplified Acquisitions. This is not a Request for Quotation (RFQ), nor is an RFQ available, however, all responsive sources may submit a proposal in a timely manner which will be considered by NLM. Firms interested in responding to the notice must be able to provide the services as specified above. Responses must be in writing and must be received in the office within fifteen (15) calendar days from the publication date of this notice. Proposal must include pricing information and staffing criteria. Inquires regarding this procurement may be made to the National Library of Medicine, Office of Acquisitions Management, 8600 Rockville Pike, Building 38A, Room B1N20, Bethesda, Maryland 20894, Attention: Uyen H. Phuong, Lead Purchasing Agent, on (301) 496-6127. Fax requests WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
