- Description
- The purpose of this Amendment is to answer contractors questions, changes to the supply/service descriptions of CLINs 0001 and 0002, and deadline date for submitting questions under Solicitation N47408-02-T-0343 as follows: (A). Questions: 1. What process specification is being used to specify the shredder? (a) Barrel materials of construction?, (b) Physical size of barrels?, (c) Number of barrels per hour to process?, (d) Shredded output size requirements?, (e) Contents of barrels to be processed?, (f) Barrel feeding methods?. Answers: 1. None. This unit will be used in at a Recycling Center for volume reduction/processing. Product will be sold/disposed of. (a) Plastic, PVC, HDPE, (b) Commercial, shapes vary in size, (c) Unknown at this time. Process thru-put capability evaluation will be based on available horsepower of the unit, (d) Particles, chips, shreds, size will be considered in evaluating vendors proposed equipment, (e) Empty containers, (f) Ram feed. Question: 2. Application information will clarify the solicitation's equipment selection. Our company uses a much smaller machine, hp, chamber and no ram, to process empty 55 gallon drum barrels. This would equate to a less expensive price than the solicitation's specified equipment. Answer: 2. HP and chamber size is critical to being considered acceptable. If an alternative is proposed, sufficient justification should be provided. Question: 3. In regard to above mentioned Sol. No. please clarify on-site support by vendor . Is the vendor responsible for installation ? Answer: 3. No, however assembly should only be required to piece together major components, and what can be accomplished by a qualified electrician to connect electric power to the unit at the target site. We're assuming that you will assemble the complete unit at you assembly plant and do a full operational test before shipping the unit (which may require some disassembly). Question 4. Or ONLY two (2) days start-up, operational and maintenance. Answer 4. Yes, only training. (B) Delete sentence from CLIN 0001 stating: 2 day of on-site support by vendor including: start up checkout and operational and maintenance training at the installation location and Add sentence to CLIN 0002. (C) Deadline date for submitting any questions about the solicitation is noontime PST 9/18/02.
