Description
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) has a requirement for the design and construction of a one story, approximately 27,000 square foot, 20 class room First Environments Early Learning Center (FEELC) for NIEHS and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) employees and staff on the EPA campus located in the Research Triangle Park, NC. This project shall include but is not limited to the following: design of architectural, interior, structural, mechanical, fire protection, electrical, environmental , civil, and other engineering features. All work shall be accomplished, reviewed and approved by engineers, architects, and interior designers registered in the United States to practice in their respective professional fields. The Contractor shall be responsible for the professional quality code compliance, technical accuracy and coordination of all designs, drawings and specifications and other documents or publications upon which the designs and construction are based. All design drawings shall be drawn using Tri-Services CADD standards. The FEELC shall be designed to be a model facility for effective daylighting and energy efficiency, and be a minimum LEED Silver rated Green Building. The contractor shall be responsible for obtaining all local building permits. The solicitation for this requirement and all available CADD drawings will be provided to all interested offerors on CD-ROM as advertised. The purpose of this synopsis is to advertise this requirement on a full and open competitive basis to all eligible firms for the design and construction of the facility under the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) 236220; $28.5 million.
