Description
The Smithsonian Institution is seeking proposals for fabrication and installation of signage outside the museums adjacent to the National Mall in Washington, DC. The signage system includes three major sign types providing for display of museum programs, general Smithsonian information, and building identification. The work will be accomplished as set forth in documents for OFEO Project 0069914, dated November, 2002 and consisting of the following: 1) Fabrication and Installation Drawings, sheets 1-18; 2) Fabrication and Installation Specifications, pages 1-84; and 3) Site Reference Drawings, sheets 1-62. The work includes, but is not limited to, project management, scheduling, shop drawings, fabrications, site preparation, removal of existing signs, and sign installation. The signs are custom architectural bronze fabrications with engraved color graphics, operating glass doors, and stone bases. Installation includes steel fabrications, concrete footings, utility coordination, landmark structure coordination, and special concrete finishes and site work. The contract implementation is divided into two phases. Selection and award will be based upon proposals to include both phases of work. Phase one (Base Bid and Alternate 1) includes shop drawings and prototypes for all three sign types and installation of Program Signs (approximately 37). Phase two (Alternate 2) includes installation of Information Signs(approximately 20), Building Identification Signs (approximately 14), and Program Signs (approximately 3).
