- The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and The Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) intends to contract with Andrew Yagiela, located in East Lansing, Michigan. This request is to procure technical support for maintenance and operation of scientific instruments onboard the Research Vessel Laurentian. Daily operations will be focused on meeting specific scientific cruise requirements and equipment maintenance projects as detailed. The contractor must be able to work a varied daily schedule to accommodate the specific cruise plans. Typically this schedule will be Monday through Friday and include both day and night operations assignments. The contractor must have a 4 year science degree with proven practical experience in the theory, maintenance and operation of oceanographic instruments. The contractor must also have experience in science technical support procedures and equipment operation for the GLERL vessels. The contractor must be familiar with the research vessel Laurentian. The proposed procurement is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one, source, Andrew Yagiela under the authority of 41 USC 253?(1). This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested parties are encouraged to respond to this announcement within 15 days of this publication and shall submit its capabilities statement indicating their ability to perform this type of service. The capabilities statement must also include in writing, it's name, address, point of contact, telephone number, and points of contact for businesses or other Government agencies to which it has previously provided similar services. No response will be provided to those inquiries which fail to provide the information requested. This information shall be submitted to the address stated herein or may be faxed to 816-426-7530, Attention: Sharon Walker. This is not a request for quotations and there is no solicitation available at this time. A determination by the Government not to compete this procurement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. This is a 100% small business set-aside.
