Description
The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston, (Code 36) is issuing a Request for Information (RFI) seeking input on alternative (other than internal combustion technologies) power systems which can be deployed and achieve operation both within and outside the continental United States by the end of year 2005. The RFI seeks information on any known technological, regulatory, and institutional gaps between the current state of the art and the technology necessary to meet conditions to deploy new alternative (other than internal combustion technologies) power generation equipment. The RFI is intended to solicit responses from alternative power generation equipment manufacturers, architect-engineering companies, and operating companies, in government, industry or academia with information or views on the conditions and equipment necessary for the generation of power. This concept must be based upon, alternative energy sources, modular design which results in increased power as systems are added (i.e. one system generates 5KW, add-on system generates 5KW for a total of 10KW). THIS RFI IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP) AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS A COMMITMENT BY THE GOVERNMENT TO ISSUE A SOLICITATION OR ULTIMATELY AWARD A CONTRACT. RESPONSES WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS PROPOSALS NOR WILL ANY AWARD BE MADE AS A RESULT OF THIS SYNOPSIS. Section 1. Information on specific candidates are asked to show how their systems meet the following criteria. 1. Credible plan for modular capability to meet varying power requirements under varying environmental conditions. 2. Demonstrate that a credible set of component suppliers and engineering resources exist today; or a credible plan exists to assemble them. 3. Supporting Information: Respondents are encouraged to provide any additional inputs, comments, and recommendations, as they may desire. Information is to be provided NLT 31DEC02 to Peter Martellini at email: Peter.Martellini@navy.mil or martellp@spawar.navy.mil or George Keiper at email: keiperg@spawar.navy.mil or mail to: Space and Naval Warefare Systems Center, Charleston, PO Box 190022, North Charleston, SC 29419-9022 ATTN: George Keiper, Code 36
