Description
The contractor will provide services as a Vocational Electronic Technology and Consumer Appliance Instructor. The schedule of services involves one four-hour session each weekday (Monday through Friday), excluding federal holidays. The contract is scheduled to begin March 1, 2003 and continue through September 30, 2003, which will make for a total of 150 sessions. Each session will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It should also be noted that the contractor will not work more than thirty hours per week. The contractor will provide course instruction to include (but is not limited to) the following topics: (1) Direct current electrical circuits (2) Alternating current electrical circuits (3) Major appliance servicing - washing machines (4) Major appliance servicing - dryers, electric and gas The contractor will be required to use a variety of teaching techniques to include classroom lectures, demonstrations, hands-on work experience, and live work projects as outlined in the Federal Bureau of Prison's national Program Statement for Occupational Educational Programs. The contractor will provide effective classroom management and instruction to adult inmate students within the Federal Correctional Institution (F.C.I.) in Bastrop, Texas. Classroom equipment, books and related supplies will be provided by F.C.I. Bastrop. Extensive knowledge/experience in electronic technology and in repairing/maintaining electronic devices must be possessed by the contractor. The contractor must also be at least 21 years of age. The Supervisor of Education and appropriate institutional procurement staff shall ensure compliance by the contractor with all provisions of the contract. Prior to the award of the contract, the contractor will be subject to a criminal background (NCIC) check. A urinalysis test will also be required by the contractor prior to the award of the contract. The Human Resources Department at F.C.I. Bastrop will establish and maintain a security file for each contractor until the contract is completed.
