- NA The U.S. Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Command is seeking sources that currently produce Ballistic Armor Panels that are able to resist an impact from a 12.7 mm armor piercing projectile, to be used in rotary aircraft to provi de protection to the flight crew. This is not a request for a proposal. It is the intent of this announcement to find sources that can produce a Ballistic Armor Panel that can be installed on several different rotary aircraft and integrated in the floor, seat, and wing panel of the aircraft. The system will be required to be installed and interchangeable across all aircraft without further modifications. It is required for the armor package to meet a weight of 7 lbs and/or a desired weight of 6.5 lbs having the capabilities to resist a single and multiple impact from a Soviet 12.7 mm armor piecing projectile at velocity ranging from 365 m/s to 610 m/s. The size of the panel must be 304 mm x 304 mm. The system must meet military standard testing requi rements as outlined in MIL-STD 662F. Interested sources should submit written correspondence to the following address: U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command, Aviation and Missile Research, Development, and Engineering Center, AMSAM-AC-RD-BB/Attention: B arry Howard, Building 5400, Redstone, Arsenal, AL, 35898. In order to be involved in additional market research being conducted for this requirement, interested sources (US or Foreign Companies) must contact the Contracting Officer as noted above and prov ide the following information: 1) Product brochures and/or technical data describing existing or representative systems that meet or exceed the listed requirements, 2) Current production/development status of Ballistic Armor Panels, 3) A listing of current users, if any, operating with the identified systems and point of contact information, 4) Current status of your facility?s security clearance: Secret or higher required. Provide CAGE code for verification, 5) A statement as to whether or not your firm wo uld be willing to demonstrate the capabilities of your Ballistic Armor Panels to Government personnel for evaluation, 6) Prices for the articles to be tested, (10-20) and 7) Price options for production quantities (NTE 1,200).
