Description
This solicitation is issued on an unrestricted basis (full and open competition) under the Designated Industry Group small business competitive demonstration program for Fiscal Year 2003. However, only shipyards in Alaska and Washington State will be considered due to travel distances, travel time, costs incurred by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), and spring deployment schedule. This solicitation will be issued by Electronic Commerce; hence e-mail addresses for interested parties are required, as is registration with the National Business Center Business Opportunity website http://ideasec.nbc.gov from which you will be able to download the solicitation and any subsequent amendments. The Service's M/V Tiglax is a 121 foot steel hulled vessel. Highlights of the major work to be performed include: Haul-out / Dry dock; Bottom work / Painting; Propeller work; Rudder work; Tail shaft work; Freeboard repaint; Topside repaint; Main deck repaint; Deck equipment repaint; Forward crane work; Aft crane work; Valve inspection; Removing and replacing bilge,fire, and, washdown system piping within the engineroom; Removing and replacing galvanized steel fire main piping; Additional extensive pipefitting and pipe replacement; and Electrical system work; Cathodic protection system work; Bilge cleaning; Potable water tank work; Chain locker work; Sonar work; Welding; and Sea Trials. The government's obligation under this action is contingent upon the availability of funds. Anticipated date for issuance of solicitation is on-or-about January 26, 2003. Bidders will obtain the solicitation from http://ideasec.nbc.gov (after registration on that site). Bidders will have 30 days in which to submit bids. Award is anticipated to be made in early March 2003. The Service will deliver and present M/V Tiglax to the ship yard / dry dock no later than March 20, 2003. The ship will depart the contractor's facility no later than six weeks after the date of initial delivery to the drydock.
