Description
Commercial Open Circuit Regulator (SCUBA). Navy Experimental Diving Unit (NEDU), Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), Panama City, FL is seeking vendors to provide current industry capabilities in order to test and evaluate commercially available technology meeting the below specifications. Regulators will be tested in two stages first at 38 ?F (3.3 ?C) then if acceptable exposed to Navy's cold water temperature specification of 29 ?F (-1.7 ?C). Navy is interested in cost, stability of production, performance, and maintainability. The regulators must perform mandated measurements without freeze-ups with sufficient accuracy, precision, and long term reliability. SPECIFICATIONS: Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Item. Resistive effort shall be less than 1.37 kPa at various respiratory minute ventilation's (RMVs) and to a maximum depth of 198 fsw (61 msw) then returning to t he surface. Resistive effort will be determined at the following RMVs and depths: 22.5, 40, 62.5, 75, and 90 L/min and depths from 0 to 198 fsw, in increments of 33 fsw (0 to 60 msw, 10 msw increments). Testing will be performed with a 1500 psi supply pressure down to 198 fsw and 500 psi supply pressure during return to the surface. To ensure consideration, vendors shall submit technical literature with complete description, specifications, commercial pricing, and availability of items which meet the above specifications by close of business (COB) 31 January 2003. Multiple/future awards may be procured via SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION PROCEDURES without further competition following review and evalua tion of the technical information received and the testing conducted at NEDU. All responsible sources may submit technical literature which shall be considered. Telephonic requests will not be accepted. NO SOLICITATION AVAILABLE.
