Description
Renovation & Modernization of Federal Building and USCH Milwaukee, Wisconsin GS05P02GBC0001 Amendment 4 Please note: The bid due date HAS NOT been extended. The due date remains January 14, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. Chicago time. Questions or concerns rose after the release of Amendment 3. 33. Who is responsible for moving the marble slabs being stored in the vault area under the sidewalk? The contractor will be responsible for moving and inventorying the slabs. A storage space (within 100 yards from the vaults) for the slabs will be provided in the building on the same floor. Any damage occurring during movement of the slabs will be the contractor?s responsibility. 34. On page 15900-5 para. 2.2.c.2 it specifies U.L. Listed plenum rated cable when not installed in conduit. On page 15900-11 para. 3.3.c it specifies ?install control wiring in raceway per Div 16- Electrical unless otherwise noted.? After reviewing Div. 16, we found that section 16740 allows the installation of low energy cable without conduit for the Communications System. We feel installing cable in raceway significantly adds to the overall cost of the project. With a few minor exceptions, all of the existing systems have been installed with plenum rated low energy cable. Of particular note, all of the existing VAV box and Dual Duct VAV box controls have been installed using low energy cable without conduit. Could you please clarify how we are to install the low energy cable for the control system? Is it to be installed in conduit? The project specification 15900 refers to Raceway and Fittings. 16110-6 item 3.4B and 3.4C indicates electrical raceway depending on application. EMT conduits are generally used in interior partitions, above suspended ceilings above 6' in exposed areas of mechanical rooms. IMT is to be used below 6' in exposed area of mechanical rooms. Cabling system for section 16740 - Communication are completely different application than controls wiring.
