Description

The National Park Service will issue a prospectus on Friday, January 24, 2003, for a 60 day response period to solicit proposals for providing limited gift and merchandise sales and fast food service in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Proposals are due in the Administration and Concessions Office, National Park Service, Curecanti National Recreation Area and Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, 102 Elk Creek, Gunnison, CO 81230 (express delivery address is the same), telephone (970) 641-2337, ext. 229, no later than 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2003. Gift and merchandise sales and fast food service were previously authorized under a concession permit between the National Park Service and Rim House, Montrose, Colorado. The concession permit expired by limitation of time on December 31, 2002. The current concessioner has a right of preference in renewal. However, the current concessioner has stated they will not submit a proposal for the new concession contract. This concession operation is seasonal in nature with most business occurring from May through early September. Services are provided on a daily basis during this primary use period. The concessioner will be assigned and will be responsible for routine maintenance of a government owned concession facility. The concessioner is responsible to provide refrigeration, cooking, and kitchen equipment; restaurant tables and chairs; merchandise display furniture; and inventory costs. The term for the contract will be for five (5) years.
