Description
NA US Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to procure marine life detection systems to serve as manatee protection systems to be installed on six water control structures located in south Florida. The contractor will procure a fully functi onally detection system and all material, labor, and equipment to install, and test manatee protection systems. The water control structures shall use acoustic devices embedded in standardized sensor cartridges to be installed on the water control structu re gates. The system shall be capable of detecting a manatee between the closing gates of the structure, sending a signal to activate audio and visual alarms, stopping the gates, and opening the gates slightly to allow the manatee to pass safely. This de tection system shall be capable of interfacing with the gate operational control systems located in the machinery housing on the structure grounds. Included in this work is the dewatering of the selected structures prior to the installation of the manatee protection systems. The contractor shall have the acoustic sensing device calibrated and tested prior to the final installation. The contractor shall have the equipment, parts, and labor available for installation of the sensing devices and electronic b oxes and controls at each structure prior to the start of dewatering. This acquisition is ?UNRESTRICTED.? All businesses are encouraged to respond. Solicitation DACW17-03-R-0006 will be issued on or about 24 February 2003 with offers due on or about 24 March 2003.
