- Description
- USAID/Madagascar intends to modify Contract No. 687-C-00-98-00160-00 with Chemonics International under the Landscape Development Interventions Program. The modification will extend the current contract expiration date by six months from June 30, 2003 to December 31, 2003 with an estimated additional cost of $2,700,000. The contract will enable the Landscape Development Interventions (LDI) program to continue their current scope of work with additional interventions to ensure that results affected by the recent eight-month political and economic crisis are achieved. Specifically, these funds will allow the completion of work foreseen in the life of program plan with additional support in the following areas: (I)strengthening farmer association to implement ecologically viable farming systems; (ii) support for community base forest management; (iii) revitalization of eco-enterprises by providing demand-driven technical, material and financial assistance; (iv) effective privatization of the southern railroad; and (v) strengthen road user associations to operate sustainably and ensure the long-term road maintenance. The contract extension is being single-sourced under AIDAR 706.302-70(b)(5) for the continued provision of specialized services. The proposed contract action is for services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302 ? 1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within 15 calendar days (fifteen days) after the date of publication of this synopsis. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct competitive procurement.
