Description
NASA/LaRC plans to issue a Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Two (2) items. A peltier feedthrough adapter and an Uninterruptible Power Supply for a scanning electron microscope. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). NASA/LaRC intends to purchase the items from FEI Company which is the only responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy Agency requirements. As it pertains to the Adapter Assmembly with peltier feedthrough,FEI Company is the only known company that provides fittings that are capable of extending the existing connections from the feedthrough (FEI part number FP6762) to the existing peltier stage (FEI part number FP6750) and also provide a four-way cross which is compatible with the ?D? port opening on the XL30 ESEM FEG microscope. As it pertains to the Uniterruptible power supply, FEI Company is the only known company that supplies a UPS that has been proven to autonomously power down the operating software for the XL30 ESEM FEG microscope and to maintain the microscope in standby mode for a minimum of four hours during a power outage. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:30 p.m. local time on Feb 14, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. An Ombudsman has been appointed.
