- Description
- The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) plans to negotiate a sole source Purchase Order with XYZs of GPS to test the analysis portion of the Nationwide Differential Global Positioning System Test and Analysis (NDGPS) Modernization Program. The testing will include the effectiveness of broadcasting centimeter level corrections. As part of the GPS program, multiple GPS reference station receivers will be used and the data collected will generate and be configured for the most efficient broadcast. The data will fit within the data stream, which is provided for the modulator for broadcast over the medium frequency data link. Additionally, the modulator interface software will be developed by GPS to support the interfacing data compression software with the modulator. The XYZs of GPS provides a unique combination of skills and technology that will meet the FHWA requirement for the program. The skills involve the ability as well as the capability to rapidly reconfigure the data output of a GPS receiver through existing PC based data formatting algorithms, and apply it to the new modulator. The XYZs of GPS has the expertise and full capability to support the data collection and analysis, which cannot be collected with any other organization. Because the XYZs of GPS has the technology, expertise, as well as using their equipment to process the data that will be used in the NDPGS Modernization program, the data collected for the analysis cannot be combined from other sources they are the only known source that can provide the services required. This is a Simplified Acquisition and the anticipated award date is February 25, 2003.
