Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) intends to negotiate a sole source hardware contract with McDonnell Douglas Corporation (MDC), P.O. Box 516, St. Louis, MO 63166-0516 for the production and integration of the advanced AN/APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Radar Systems for the F/A-18E/F Aircraft Weapon System. The items to be procured are the first lot of Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) AN/APG-79 AESA units including the wideband radome, shroud and integration with the F/A-18 Aircraft and associated avionics systems. There will be options for LRIP 2 and 3 in fiscal years 2004 and 2005 respectively. This procurement includes the acquisition of time critical parts, production engineering, integrated logistics support, and options for initial spares and related supplies. MDC is the sole designed, developer and manufacturer of the F/A-18 Aircraft Weapon System and the AN/APG-79 AESA Radar. As such, MDC is the only source possessing the unique knowledge, experience, and technical data required to perform the described effort in the requisite time frame.
