- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Leica Microsystems Inc., of Bannockburn, Illinois, for acquisition of one (1) Demo Unit, Micro-hardness Testing Machine System, to be used by the Metallurgy Division's Metals Processing Group. *****The system will carry a 90-day, on-site warranty on parts and labor.*****Sole source determination is based on the Government's need for a micro-hardness tester system that is 100% compatible with Leica Microsystems Inc. micro-characterization image analysis and confocal microscope systems in existence in the laboratory. Leica Microsystems Inc. is uniquely qualified to provide the Government with a micro-hardness tester system that is 100% compatible and capable of seamless interaction with existing Leica Microsystems systems (Model Q 500IW and Model ICM 1000).*****Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within ten (10) weeks or less after receipt of purchase order (ARO).*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees. *****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by February 28, 2003, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
