- Description
- NA The U.S. Department of Defense, Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, Natick Soldier Center is conducting market research for initial test and evaluation for vendors who are currently producing or manufacturing the most advanced technologies and methodo logies in the design and fabrication of closure systems for Chemical and Biological Clothing Systems, that can be developed or incorporated into current military CP clothing garments. Data gathered during this market research for samples and technical dat a will aid in the qualification for the above Family of Closure Systems, and will substantiate the need for specific requirements outlined therein. This is not a request for proposal and does not commit the government to award a contract now or in the futu re. No solicitation is available at this time. Samples submitted will not be returned. Do not submit samples that have a cost, as it will not be reimbursed. The following is provided as a general statement of the requirement. The Closure designs must aid in providing increased protection against CP threats in aerosol, liquid, and/or vapor forms at the main interfaces of current existing CP protective clothing, such as the wrist, ankle, mask, suit openings (zippers, flaps, Velcr o, etc.) and neck interfaces. The threshold CP protection is 24 hours or greater of aerosol, liquid, and vapor protection. The closures must be low profile and ergonomically designed to enhance, not hinder, the operational ability of military personnel. The closures must be easy to use by users in the field, and durable. It is our intent to have the closure components integrated into emerging CP clothing designs and then conduct standardized CP system test protocols, while maintaining the functional con figuration requirements such as modular components and quick donning. Responses with data and samples are due on or before 01 April 2003, and must include a minimum of 1 sample of proposed closure for initial evaluation and capabilities, a product description with performance parameters, a statement regarding current availab ility, summary of prior physical properties testing or chemical test data (live or simulant), relevant test reports, and an estimated cost for the price of future test articles and production units. Information received under this announcement will be us ed to prepare acquisition strategy and subsequent RFP. Please provide name of firm, address, POC, phone/fax number, and email address. Submit data of the item to US Army Soldier Biological Chemical Command, AMSSB-RIP-SP, ATTN: SOF Special Projects Team, Karen Burke, Kansas Street, Bldg 4, Rm. D218, Natick, MA 01760.
