Description
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division intends to procure on an other than full and open competition basis a contract for Magnetotelluric (MT) Survey of the Coso Hot Spring area located at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, CA. to the University of Utah, EGI, 423 Wakara Way, Suite 300, Salt Lake City UT 84108. This work is being timed to coincide with a larger MT Survey that is being undertaken for the Coso Operating Company (COC), the Navy's geothermal contractor at the Coso Geothermal Development. The other than full and open competition is based on the University of Utah being the only known source, the Department of Energy and COC have tasked the University to perform MT Survey across geothermal leases that COC occupies at the Coso Geothermal Development. The University of Utah is the only contractor that can minimize the errors and discrepancies in the gathering, reduction, and interpretation of the MT data for the combined COC and GED surveys. The contractor shall gather MT geophysical data at approximately 44 stand-alone sites and 1 linear array within and around the Coso Hot Springs area located at the Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake CA. All work must be complete by mid May 2003. Any firms believing that they can provide the described work may submit a written response to be received by at the Contracting Office no later than 5 days after the date of publication of this notice, clearly showing its ability to do so without causing delay to the program. Respond to Sue Casey, by mail @ the above address, or fax to (760) 939-3095 or email sue.casey@navy.mil. Award will be made on or about 25 Feb 03.
