Description

This is for the repair of three, ?3-leaf guillotine type? hangar doors in building 137, Robins AFB, Georgia. Each leaf is approximately 7? X 55?. Repairs will consist of the replacement of rope sheaves and bearings on the drive shaft, changing the single chain drive to a double chain drive and repairs to the operator and adjustments to the counter-balancing system. Some of the parts needed to complete the repairs will have to be locally manufactured, since the company has gone out of business. Repairs will also require the replacement of approximately 200? of cable and new weather-stripping on each set of doors. The motorized door operator will need to be repaired or rebuilt, and the gearbox and brakes are worn and damaged and will need to be repaired or rebuilt. Some repairs may be necessary that are undetectable until repairs have begun. Overall, the doors need to be repaired into a fully operational condition. Drawings and specifications are not available. It is a ?here?s my problem, you fix it? kind of a job. Thus, a site visit will be necessary. The site visit is scheduled for 13 March 2003, at 1000 hours. A government van will be at the visitor?s center at 0945 to take you to the work site. The van will depart promptly at 0945, so please be on time.
