Description
The National Institute on Drug Abuse, Division of Treatment Research and Development is seeking capability statements from qualified organizations having in-house capability to perform in vitro receptor binding assays on a wide variety of receptor targets, and perform follow-up binding and functional assays using appropriate in vitro biological systems. The objective is to provide NIDA with reports of preclinical discovery programs with a way to screen additional compounds, possibly large compound libraries, at one or more receptors or transporters in order to determine biological activity, with the objective of discovering specific receptor or transporter ligands with novel chemical structures. This will facilitate the discovery of novel structural ligands for specified biological targets in the search for medications for the treatment of drug dependence disorders. Tasks to be performed: Task 1 Receptor Profile Screening, Task 2 Compound and/or Library Screening, and Task 3 Receptor Binding Affinity and/or Function. Interested organizations must be able to demonstrate, in a capability statement submitted, extensive experience in the following areas: 1) perform high throughput screening of a large number of compounds at a single receptor or transporter target, with appropriate follow up assays; 2) expertise in evaluation and personnel with the knowledge of, and experience in a) conducting receptor and enzyme assays (list types of assays) b) state-of-the-art assay methodologies 3) equipment, instrumentation, facility, and 4) DEA Research Registration for Schedules II to V. THIS IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS. This notice is for information purposes only and does not commit the Government to any contractual agreement. Interested organizations submitting a capability statement in response to this sources sought notice are required to identify their size status. Written capability statements must be submitted no later than March 30, 2003 to NIDA, 6001 Executive Boulevard, Room 3105, MSC 9543, Bethesda, MD 20892-9543, Attn: Diane Loeb.
