Description
The Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Division Newport, Rhode Island (NUWCDIVNPT) intends to place a sole source contract with Harris Corporation of Melbourne, Florida for four SecNet 11 radios that will be modified to include a power amplifier and frequency converter, along with appropriate antenna. Harris Corporation has a unit that is presently available for demonstration, and Harris will have two units available for purchase and delivery to the Government by 09 June 2003 and two more units available for purchase and delivery to the Government by 15 July 2003. Only Harris has units that meet the Government?s requirements and schedule. The Government requires a wireless communication data link capable of at least a five Mbps continuous data throughput out to a range of ten nautical miles over water in order to transmit back both streaming video and radar data. The data link is required for the Spartan Scout FY02 Advanced Concept Technology Development (ACTD), a 7-meter unmanned surface vehicle (USV). The link must be capable of automatic, incremental data rate step-down. The receiver/transmitter/power amp/frequency converter package must run on 24 Vdc, weigh under 75 pounds, be comprised of no more than two units, which are no larger than one cubic foot in volume each. The antenna for both the Host Ship and for the USV must be omni-directional. The radio must provide an IEEE 802.3 interface. The units must operate between 1.75 and 1.85 GHz. Additionally, the Host Ship omni-directional antenna must be of size to be placed on the mast of a U.S. Navy Ticonderoga class cruiser. A Firm-Fixed-Price type contract is anticipated with delivery to NUWCDIVNPT. NAICS: 334419. Our department no longer issues solicitations or amendments in paper form. Instead, they may be accessed at our web site http://www.npt.nuwc.navy.mil/contract/. We also provide electronic access in our Bid Room. For this acquisition, no formal solicitation will be available. Number Note 22 applies.
