- Description
- Under the authority of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acqu= isition Management System (AMS), paragraph 3.2.2.4, the FAA intends to proc= ure three (3) Precision Runway Monitor (PRM) systems, their respective inst= allations, spares, training and engineering services from the original equi= pment manufacturer (OEM), Raytheon =E2=80=93 Towson, MD. The PRM system(s)= are follow-on Non-Developmental Item(s) (NDIs), which allow simultaneous, = independent Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) approaches at airports with close= ly spaced parallel runways less than 4,300ft apart. The follow-on PRM syst= ems are to be of the identical configuration to that currently being produc= ed for the FAA by Raytheon. Raytheon has a unique blend of expertise and e= xperience with the this specific National Airspace System (NAS) certified s= ystem that supports standardization of the PRM program, in terms of configu= ration, maintenance and training concept. It is determined to be in the bes= t interest of the Government to procure the additional systems, and its pro= ven technology, from Raytheon. Attempts to procure from another source cou= ld result in unacceptable delays. (Reference No. 2777)
