- Description
- Under the authority of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acqu= isition Management System (AMS), paragraph 3.2.2.4, the FAA intends to proc= ure three (3) Precision Runway Monitor (PRM) systems, their respective inst= allations, spares, training and engineering services from the original equi= pment manufacturer (OEM), Raytheon =13 Towson, MD. The PRM system(s) are f= ollow-on Non-Developmental Item(s) (NDIs), which allow simultaneous, indepe= ndent Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) approaches at airports with closely spa= ced parallel runways less than 4,300ft apart. The follow-on PRM systems ar= e to be of the identical configuration to that currently being produced for= the FAA by Raytheon. Raytheon has a unique blend of expertise and experie= nce with the this specific National Airspace System (NAS) certified system = that supports standardization of the PRM program, in terms of configuration= , maintenance and training concept. It is determined to be in the best inte= rest of the Government to procure the additional systems, and its proven te= chnology, from Raytheon. Attempts to procure from another source could res= ult in unacceptable delays. (Reference No. 2777)
