- The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Climatic Data Center, Asheville, North Carolina, intends to procure (1) Sun Fire V480 Server, to include (2) 900MHz Cu CPU, (4)1GB Memory Kits, (2) 36GB 1" 10k RPM Drives, DVD, 2 power supplies, rack rails, product code A37-WSPF2-4GQB; (1) SFV880/V480:Dual 900MHz CPU module + 4GB memory system board, product code X7028A; and (1) PGX64 24-bit color frame buffer, PCI, product code X3768A. This a 100% Small Business Set-Aside. The small business size standard is 1000 employees. The NAICS code is 421430. The government intends to conduct an on-line competitive best value reverse auction to be facilitated by a third-party reverse auction provider, FedBid.com. Fed.Bid.com has developed an on-line anonymous, browser based application to conduct the reverse auction. All functional specifications are provided on FedBid.com. The determination for award will be based on price. Participants will submit a series of quotes that descend in price during the specified period of time. All responsible sources may submit a quote/offer to the U.S. Department of Commerce using the online exchange located at www.FedBid.com. There is no cost to register, review procurement data, or make an offer on line for this requirement. Offerors that are not currently registered to use FedBid.com Exchange should proceed to http://www.fedbid.com/selectvendor.jsp to complete their free registration. Offerors that require special considerations or assistance may contact FedBid Help Desk at 866-288-3535 or via email at ClientServices@FedBid.com. The Government is taking this action in an effort to improve vendor quotes for products. Offerors may not artificially manipulate the price of a transaction by any means. It is unacceptable to place bad faith bids, use decoys in the bidding process or to collude with the intent or effect of hampering the competitive bidding process. The reverse auction will start IMMEDIATELY and end on THURSDAY, April 17, 2003 at 12:00 p.m.
