- THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION PACKAGE OR STATEMENT OF WORK AVAILABLE. This request is for information only as defined in Federal Acquisition Regulation 15.201(e). The National Institutes of Health, Clinical Center does not presently intend to award a contract however, the Government has a need to obtain information on providing hospital operational support services. The NIH Clinical Center is specifically interested in the areas surrounding Material Handling or related services; Housekeeping services; and Food Service/Nutrition services typically provided in a hospital and/or clinical research environment. This is a request for information only. Responses to this notice are not offers and cannot be accepted by the Government to form a binding contract. The Government is not liable for any costs and/or activity associated with providing a response to this announcement. The National Institutes of Health is planning to conduct an initiative that will evaluate the feasibility, advantages and disadvantages of obtaining material handling, housekeeping, and food service/nutrition support services. The Warren Grant Magnuson Clinical Center, a 240-bed federally funded biomedical-research hospital, is located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The Clinical Center is a clinical research hospital providing all medical services for patients participating in human research protocols of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The Clinical Center provides patient facilities and services for clinical investigations by the NIH Institutes, research in related areas and supervises residency and other training programs. The mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is to uncover new knowledge that will lead to better health for everyone. The NIH accomplishes that mission by: conducting research in its own laboratories; supporting the research of non-Federal scientists in universities, medical schools, hospitals, and research institutions throughout the country and abroad; helping in the training of research investigators; and fostering communication of biomedical information. The National Institutes of Health is seeking capability statements from industry representatives who may be interested in providing the services specified above. The purpose of this market survey is to improve the understanding of the Government?s requirements and industry capabilities to provide multiple services. The capability statements will aid the National Institutes of Health in developing realistic expectations and identifying capabilities that are commercially available. The Government is particularly interested in receiving information from organizations with experience/ability to provide most of all of the services described herein. The capability statements should reflect organizations actual experience providing any/all of the requested services including the specific hospitals and/or research facilities the services were performed. Information including specific period(s) of performance; brief description of work requirements; familiarity and success meeting Joint Commission requirements; and Staffing levels would be helpful. Detailed information including the operational number of beds; number of inpatient admissions; and number of ambulatory visits at the referenced sites would also be useful. Information collected as a result of this announcement will in no way be used to limit or screen potential contractors from future consideration for selection. Information provided by interested parties in response to this announcement shall not be disclosed if doing so would compromise the contractor?s confidential business strategy, and will be protected under FAR 3.104 or FAR Subpart 24.2. Responses are requested by June 5, 2003. All comments received will be considered, however, formal responses to industry comments will be provided at the Government?s discretion. A formal solicitation MAY NOT BE ISSUED as a result of this Request For Information. Information provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation.
