Description

Placement of a 6-inch layer of earthen cover material over approximately 116 acres of stamp sand at four different sites located in Houghton County Michigan. Major items of construction and estimated quantities are as follows: Structure removal onsite and offsite (LS); Pollution control (LS); Seeding and mulching (116 acres); Mobilization and demobilization (LS); Access roads (11,375 LF); Regrading areas (LS); Diversions and waterways (12,293 LF); Cover material (116 Acres); Shoreline protection riprap (2,697 Tons); Culverts 24"diameter (520 LF); Culvert 18"(240 LF); Culvert 60"x 40" arch (100 LF); Chain link 4' fence (4,015 LF); Gates (8 Each); Drainfill (784 CY); Structure removal 8'fence (LS); Chain link 8' fence (753 LF); Base soil (3,575 Ton); Lined channel/Outlet protection (1,768 Ton); Cover material riprap (5,191 Ton); Cover material rock (3,779 Tons); Recreation trail (2,318 LF) and field office construction trailer (LS). Estimated price range is $1 - $5 Million. Site showing will be held May 22, 2003 at 1 PM (EDT) at the UPPCO Building, 600 East Lakeshore Drive, Suite 2, Houghton, MI. The bid opening will be at the same location on June 19, 2003 at 1 PM (EDT). Notice to proceed will be issued on or about June 30, 2003 with construction to begin on or about July 7, 2003. Performance time is 173 days. Liquidated damages assessed at $1,200. per day. A bid guarantee of 20% of the bid amount must accompany your offer. All contractors and sub-contractors will be required to follow USDA, NRCS Safety Plan and all site workers must have the 24-hour Hazwoper Training prior to any construction activity. No materials from the job site, including cleared or grubbed material shall be burned on or off site. This is a requirement of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Solicitation package with specifications and drawings will be posted to FEDBIZOPPS on or about April 30, 2003.
