Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Nippon Instrument Corporation, of Osaka, Japan, for acquisition of one (1) NIC Mercury Analyzer, Model MA-2000. The Analyzer will be used by the Analytical Chemistry Division at NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland.*****Sole source determination is based on the need for the NIC Mercury Analyzer to be able to measure solids, liquids, and gaseous samples. The Analyzer must be sensitivity down to 0.005 ng of mercury, and must use gold-amalgamation technology to trap mercury. The NIC Mercury Analyzer Model MA-2000 is a versatile instrument that will be used to certify gaseous standards for mercury content. The instrument will analyze solid, gas, and liquid samples for mercury down to the pmol/mol level. The capacity to analyze solid samples will analyze solid, gas and liquid samples will enable NIST to trace gas measurements to our mercury in soil SRMs.*****Delivery is required within 30 days or less after receipt of order (ARO) and shall be made FOB destination.*****The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 Employees.*****No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, responses received by April 30, 2003, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*****
