- Description
- United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Mid West Area has a project entitled Construction of Laboratory and Office Space. The project is located at the USDA, ARS, Livestock Behavior Research Unit, W. Lafayette, Indiana. This work includes, but is not limited to furnishing all labor, supervision, materials, tools, equipment, transportation, and other necessary work to perform and complete the following: Base Bid includes a 3,100 sf wood-framed building containing laboratory and administrative support space. The laboratory spaces have been designed to meet USDA-ARS requirements for bio-containment, with one of the lab areas designated Bio-safety Level 2 (BSL-2). The project includes laboratory casework, two bio-safety cabinets, and one fume hood. Finishes, HVAC, and electrical systems have been specified as required for USDA bio-containment laboratory projects. Site work includes sidewalks at the building, and connecting to the existing building, a gravel parking lot, and modifications to the existing septic system. The period of performance for Base Bid is 150 days. Option I includes Brick veneer wainscot (up to +4' -0" AFF) on all four sides in lieu of metal siding. Also included is wood stud framing modifications to accommodate the brick veneer. The period of performance for Option I is 10 days. All work shall be performed in strict accordance with the Specifications and Drawings. A Bid Bond as well as Performance and Payment Bonds shall be required. Estimated price range for Base Bid and All Options are: Between 500,000 and 1,000,000. The North American Industry Classification System code for this acquisition is 236220, Commerical and Institutional Building Construction. The Small Business Size Standard is $28.5 million. This will be the only opportunity to visit the job site prior to submission of bid. The anticipated IFB solicitation package will be available on or about June 6, 2003, with opening date 30 days later.
