- Description
- Defense Supply Center Richmond will negotiate with responsible sources for the establishment of a Service contract for refurbishment of approximately 11,101 full medical oxygen cylinders currently located in Pirmasens, Germany. The successful contractor will have the capacity to refurbish at least 2,000 of these cylinders per month into empty cylinders that will hold Human Respiration Air, Argon, Carbon Dioxide,Helium, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Aviator's Breathing Oxygen, Sulfur Hexafluoride and a Generic cylinder. Approximately 500 of the full medical oxygen cylinders will be converted to technical oxygen without venting of the gas. The contractor will provide transporation of the cylinders from Pirmasens to contractor site(s); vent medical oxygen from all cylinders except those being converted to Technical Oxygen; temporarily store empty cylinders awaiting refurbishment; temporarily store full medical oxygen cylinders and technical oxygen cylinders; perform maintenance on cyliders, as required; dispose of unservicable cylinders; prepare reports as specified in the statement of work; deliver the refurbished cylinders to location specified in contract or delivery order; and temporarily store refurbished cylinders. Delivery orders will be issued which will relate the number of cylinders that require refurbishment. Minimum delivery order quantity is 2,000 and maximum quantity is 11,101. Typical work to be performed on each cylinder is: for medical oxygen cylinders that change to Technical Oxygen, change Color code (paint) - for those cylinders that will be empty, contractor will vent the cylinder of medical oxygen, paint to match the expected gas to fill it; change valve to match gas that expected gas to fill it and conduct hydrostatic testing. All work to be performed is detailed in competitive specifications.
